Gashed Blog >> A is for Aldershot

The A-Z tour kicked off in Aldershot. Work and Liverpools Champion's League commitments prevented jedisteve attending and so Jedimum and Jedidad went in his place.

The Westend centre is a small venue with the bonus of cheap lager – only £2.50 a pint – very cheap for the South East.

Not many of the usual crowd there, we only saw Matt. Looked like lots of the people there had been Ash fans since the mid-90s.

The Panama Kings were the support act – pretty good – better than I remember them from the Bloomsbury Ballroom in June.

The audience were rather quiet when Ash came on but a mixture of old and new soon got them warmed up. Great to hear True Love 1980 – a new favourite of Jedimum. Last song was a really good version on Burn Baby Burn. Really enjoyed the gig – a good night out. Everyone went home happy.

Great gig - was also cool to talk to the jediparents

Shame about the curfew trimming the setlist, but liked the new stuff, especially Arcadia.

Great blog. Jedimum and Jedidad should have there own column space where we can ask questions about life, etc

Loved the gig, I just ended up smiling from ear to ear, brilliant. I think lots of people have ear damage today, I feel lucky to have my musician earplugs, they are amazing, only problem is I can't really sing along, as everything sounds really loud in my head. Great set list with a mix of old and new, my friend doesn't know Ash that well but she still knew loads of songs and really enjoyed herself. The crowd seemed a bit quiet and polite, but I think that just shows it was a more mature audience that what I am used to, it was nice not to feel old. A huge thank you for playing Aldershot too, since moving down to Woking, the only decent gigs tend to be in London, and it was nice that we could drive somewhere really easily rather than having to get train etc. Brilliant idea! Thank you, thank you!

Ah, going to see Ash for the first time in Dublin next month. Really hope the include Jack Names the Planets and Uncle Pat in their set!

If they don’t, A life Less Ordinary, Meltdown, Kung Fu and everything else will still suffice

(and where’d Angle Interceptor get to??)

What a great idea.
Mind you I'm biased, as I've already done it!

I'll hopefully catch the tour somewhere along the route.
