LONDON MARATHON 2012 - ALZHEIMER'S SOCIETY FUNDRAISING

Following on from the Alzheimer's Society Belfast Music Benefit held at the Ulster Hall last November, where Ash played their number 1 album 1977 in it's entirely along side Neil Hannon of the Divine Comedy and the Undertones and raising in excess of £30,000, Ash's efforts to raise money and awareness for the Alzheimer's Society continue this year with their manager running London Marathon on Sunday 22nd April.

"I'm running this year's London Marathon with the help of a Golden Bond from the Alzheimer's Society in memory of my Nan, Nancy Gates, and Tim Wheeler's father, George Wheeler who both passed away after suffering from dementia. Plus I ALWAYS run in memory of my Mum, Phoebe Ann Alderson, who died of secondary breast cancer in 1999.

Last year thanks to Tim Wheeler's idea to hold a benefit show at the Ulster Hall in Belfast I learnt so much about the Alzheimer's Society and the incredible work that they do. Their care and support for people with dementia and their families and friends is simply invaluable.
